Shoe Patterning
I have been actively patterning shoes since 2011. I have patterned hundreds of shoes and have done my own studies to understand the details of “tape to flat pattern.”
My
background in engineering, drafting and Auto body design have made the
transition fairly easy.
Neither the automotive body or the shoe last
have a single straight line on them.
Design over complex surfaces takes a different eye and approach.
After 30 years in CAD I was ecstatic to get back to hand drafting.
I
developed my own technique of color coding and photocopying to cut out
the parts thereby always having the original for future changes
